Muse
Map of the Problemtique
For our final project in 4.341 we're required to create a piece that will be put on display in some department of MIT. This semester it was the Brain and Cognitive Sciences Department (Course 9).
Throughout the semester we pinned up our work every week for critique where people would comment on our images. The point of these critiques is to develop our style and hopefully end up with a final theme related to Course 9. Along with critiques we had some supplemental reading so that we could get to know our subject (the brain, haha) a little better.
My midterm project includes the next five photos. The "theme" I sort of plopped together was that they deal with how we perceive the presence of a body when it might either be distorted or missing. In reality I was just wanted to play with my camera (but don't tell Andrea that).
I titled the piece "body," of course.
These pieces are scans from gelatin silver prints of 35mm negatives (roughly 9x10 in size). Also...no photoshop. :P
